Concept

The concept behind the pots came from a desire to create a storage pot with clean, minimal lines that captured Scandinavian and Japanese aesthetics.
While the pots have minimal lines, there is a certain amount of warmness to the pots. Colours were chosen based on their earthiness. The outer side of the pot was given a matte and textural outer glaze and in contrast, a high gloss interior finish. The contrast give the pots a distinctive look and feel that is a delight to touch and handle.

Production

The studio takes great care in partnering with organisations with a commitment to ethical standards and preserving artisan skills within the community. We have a deep respect for high craftsmanship and the uniqueness of the handmade process – it was key in turning the initial concepts into a reality. All our pots are hand made, and each item is therefore unique. There is also a certain depth in knowing each pot is hand-made in a supportive community environment.
Collaborating with our manufacturer was an important step in achieving the final result. The pots and lids are both wheel thrown, with the handle being built by hand. Each pot is also glazed by hand. Once we received the initial prototypes, a few adjustments were made and technical issues resolved with a high degree of care and attention to detail.
